 Marshall County Recorder

Some
Significant Accomplishments

Although my term in office officially ended on December 31, 2010 -- along with the office of County Recorder, I am continuing to maintain my personally designed, financed and hosted website as the transition/merger is made for the services previously provided by the Marshall County Recorders Office.  Forms and current information as well as links to other state and federal agencies will need to be accessed from the main county website.

Don't forget that Marshall County document images are currently viewable at the statewide website developed by the Iowa County Recorders Association:

www.iowalandrecords.org

While progress continues to be made daily on populating index data with its associated document image, the next stage in returning those redacted document images (as a result of privacy legislation put in place with SF465) to the home county is still a few months away.  In the interim, images of recorded documents are not available at the county site.

Before I close the book on this chapter of my life, I would like to thank the many staff members, throughout my eight years in office, who were invaluable in moving the office forward.  Without their ideas, suggestions, concerns, what-ifs, this office would not have made the significant strides in streamlining processes, improving customer-service practices and pushing and shoving, on occasion, this office into the 21st century.

The staff "hung in there" through software vendor changes, tolerated those weekly Wednesday morning office meetings, adjusted remarkably well to color-coded handouts and reference notebooks, incorporated Code of Iowa and Administrative Rule changes without skipping a beat, repeatedly lifted 30-pound record books (like those pictured below) without breaking a sweat, played musical chairs with assigned workstations, and more....

One staff member designed an extensive fee book Excel spreadsheet.  Another developed comprehensive tabbed/indexed notebooks of Vitals examples.  Two provided/provide much needed translation services.  A calendar sticker renewal reminder was a big hit with our ATV, boat and snowmobile owners.

In reverse alphabetical order by last name, a HUGE thank you to Maria V; Lisa R; Bonnie R; Sue M; Jason M; Denise M; Shirley K; Deja H; Vern G; Lisa G; Elaine F; Travis C; and Helen A.  Each of you, with your varying areas of expertise and strengths, contributed immeasurably to the successful operation of the Recorders Office.
